I believe the story goes that after Metal #1 came out, Scott Snyder and Grant Morrison were having a fun little chat about the event, and then came up with an idea for this issue. The Wild Hunt was not originally in the list. If you were keeping up with the Dark Nights story line by following the list DC Comics had released at the beginning of this event, then you may be confused by this issues existence.
